Sometimes I hate Autism.

I adore my son. Sometimes I hate Autism. Why? I hate that it makes my son angry. I hate that it effects his ability to make friends. I hate the fact that he can't tell me how he is feeling. I hate that people stare when he's upset or making funny noises. I hate it when we are around typical 5 year old boys and I feel blindsided all over again. I hate that I have to worry about his future. I hate that my son can't just be a typical boy and have play dates, play sports with his dad, tell us about his day, tell us a joke, tell me what makes him happy, tell me if someone was rude to him, tell me he has a "girlfriend", explain to me why he is crying and upset.

I love my son more than anything. Sometimes Autism just plain sucks!!

I'm sure I'll feel better tomorrow, but this is how I feel today...

  1. I am so sorry at this point in time I can not say I know how you feel when it comes to this but I do hate lack of communication with children. I also hate how people don't educate themselves or their children. they should take the moment when their child makes fun of or looks funny at your son to teach them how everything in this world is a gift from god and that we all have been given the chance to learn and teach each other. I hope you day tomorrow is better and once I finnish this room (or need a brake form it) we will set up a day for me to come down and have a play date
    love you

  3. I know how very hard some days can be! Especially when you watch your kids around other kids there age, that's when it really hits you and it can be so painful! You always make me feel better when I have these days with my boys, usually after playgroup or preschool it seems, and I am always here to talk to when you need it! :)

  4. Thanks Sis. I hope you know I am always here to talk too! Yes, it is definitely worse when you are around other kids their age. Thanks for being there and for understanding. :)
